Huawei urges U.S. agency to drop national security risk designation

By David Shepardson WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Huawei Technologies Co Ltd on Monday asked the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) not to finalise its designation of the China tech giant as a risk to U.S. national security, calling the effort "unlawful and misguided." In November, the FCC voted 5-0 to initially designate Huawei and ZTE Corp as national security risks in a move that would bar their U.S. rural carrier customers from tapping an $8.5 billion (6.5 billion pounds) government fund to purchase equipment.
